It's the last weekend before December. If we were going to have an Advent Calendar, now was our last chance to make it. I've always wanted to make Advent Calendars as a family tradition with my kids and finally the time has come when we can have some sort of collaboration going on. Mind you, it wasn't easy just watching Hazzy write the numbers and stick them on crooked. But I decided it was more important to make the calendar together rather than have a Pinterest worthy looking one.
First, I drew some Christmas drawings on a vintage book we had been meaning to get rid of. I got some ideas by searching 'Christmas Silhouettes' on Google image. Then I coloured them with some Watercolour pencils and used a small brush to add some watercolour effects. I cut them out and glued them on to some seed envelopes I had lying around. Then Hazzy wrote some numbers (1 to 10) on white address labels and stuck them to the top of the envelopes. Then just hang on the wall with twine and wooden pegs.
I plan to fill each envelope with a small treat and read a chapter of Jesus Storybook Bible. Surprisingly the dates match exactly to Jesus' birth if you start reading from chapter 1 on December 1st. I just need to find a craft to go with each story since our boy is obsessed with craft at the moment.
