I met the mums in our mothers group through my antenatal class. We were all heavily pregnant back then, filled with fear and anticipation for what was to come. We didn't talk much, just some general questions about work and pregnancy symptoms were all that was discussed. But after the baby came, our meetings became way more lively. In fact, we couldn't keep our mouths shut. Here was the only place that we didn't have to feel guilty about talking about our babies the whole time.
We shared many things in mothers group. The weird experiences we were going through post-labour, the hardships of raising a demanding baby, family issues, tips and tricks. Just the fact that we had somewhere to go to with our baby was great. It was so nice to have a reason to get out of the house and indulge in some nice food for ourselves.
Our babies developed immensely during this time, as well. When we first met with our babies, they were tiny, helpless beings that only knew how to suckle, cry and sleep. Now, these babies smile when our eyes meet, sit by themselves while playing with toys, and even eat real food from spoons. They all hold a special place in our hearts and make us feel so special.
Lots of mums in our group are going back to work now, so we won't be able to meet as regularly as before. But I hope this friendship will last throughout all our motherhood.
