Family Holiday Cut Short

We went on a family holiday to Port Stephens with the other Lee's last week. There were BBQs, whale watching (without the whales), board games, card games, popcorn and DVDs. There were relaxing days listening to the raindrops fall and clear, blue seas at the beach. But all that we remember is the big rush to pack the morning our holiday was cut short.

It was the morning of what we thought would be the last night of our holidays. Our babies woke us up around 8 am, so we had a nice breakfast with baked beans on toast. We decided to continue on to watch the second part of our Lord of the Rings movie marathon we started the night before. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door. It was the cleaning lady. She said there was another guest coming after lunch so she needed to start cleaning up. That couldn't be. We are staying till tomorrow, we insisted. But the joke was on us. We've only booked till Friday morning. There was a moment of 'seriously?' then we all sprinted to work. Everybody was allotted stations as we speedily packed our bags, washed the dishes, emptied the fridge, threw away the rubbish and finally put our luggage in our cars. We miraculously was out of there in an hour.

That's when it hit me. I wasn't ready for my holidays to end. We were supposed to have that one last night of steak with beer to finish off with Lord of the Rings part three. I wasn't ready to face our cold, cold house just yet. Oh well... I guess we just have to go on another holiday, soon.

No road trip is complete without a McDonald's stop

Finally arrived at our holiday house @ Fingal Bay
