Hazzy's got a routine

Hazzy didn't have a set routine to his day. We kind of went with the flow. I put him to bed when he looked tired and fed him when he woke up. But Hazzy was quite regular with his feeds and nap since he was a newborn, so I guess we did have sort of a routine in a very loose kind of way. Well, it's been almost nine months now, so I thought it was time that he started having some structure to his day.

For a few days, I wrote down the times he would wake up and when he started getting tired. I noticed he was mostly happy and calm in the mornings. I also observed that he needed a nap, even if it's just 30 minutes, after about two hours of wake time. Armed with these information, I was able to draw up this timetable.

Remember these?

Strangely enough, even though I hadn't made any radical changes to his routine, Hazzy seems much more content these days. He has done everything according to the timetable, give or take 30 minutes. I can be more organized with my day as well, since I know when he's going to do what.

Finally, my baby has a set routine. I feel like he has grown up so much. He is becoming more, shall I say 'tame'? Not living by just instincts but trying to manage his time in this life (although I'm managing it for him for the time being).

Baby's routines can change rapidly, so I know I shouldn't get too attached to this timetable, but somehow I feel so empowered by it. How amazing that a piece of paper can bring such peace of mind to a person. Maybe I should make my own timetable and stick it on my door? Just a thought.
