Toys, toys, toys

When you have kids, it's inevitable that you will have toys in your home. And so the love-hate relationship with toys begins. Toys are great. They help your children develop new skills while having fun. You can even steal some time to do the dishes while your child plays happily with his toys. But with toys comes clutter, and it's especially hectic after a birthday and Christmas.

I've been searching for a solution for Hazzy's recent explosion of toys for a while now. Some of you might remember my post on 3M Command Hooks, and how I used a hook on the wall to hang play-gyms. Since Hazzy has outgrown play-gyms, I was thinking of a way to utilise the hook. At first I thought I'd get one of those rubber baskets with handles and hang them up on the wall. So when I saw that ALDI was having a special on these baskets for $5, I rushed to go buy them, first thing Saturday morning. But much to my disappointment, it looked awkward and insecure on the wall. It was back to square one.

Then one day, while I was roaming around 2 dollar shops, as you do, I saw those thick plastic bags with zippers. That was it! It was sturdy enough to store toys, yet flexible enough to hang securely on the wall. But there was just one problem. They were ugly. Most of the ones I saw had faded white background with black and red checkered patterns. Definitely not something you want hanging on the wall of your living room. So I've been eyeing thick plastic bags every time I go to the shops and today, finally found the one! It had trendy looking geometric shapes on it in black and olive. I eagerly bought it for $3.95 and brought it home with me. I filled it with Hazzy's soft toys and hung it on the wall. I am finally free from toy clutter, for now that is.

Hazzy's toys, nice and organised

Do you have any clever ideas for organising toys?
