| Hazzy and mum, still groggy after a nap |
I'm not a morning person.
Especially after waking up several times during the night to tend to my boy. But Hazzy is amazing in the mornings. He sits up as soon as he opens his eyes and demands I put on his nursery rhymes on the iPad. He giggles and sways back and forth as he watches/listens to the songs, then proceeds to climb off the bed to get his toys. He brings back his toys into our room and starts happily playing with it as I attempt to muster up the energy to get out of the bed. So joyful. So energetic.
But why shouldn't I be like Hazzy?
Each morning, I am granted a new day to fill with more memories. A day that I can make a difference in the lives of the people I meet, even if it's just smiling at them. It's a day that I can cuddle my boy and kiss my hubby one more time. A day I can enjoy chocolate and sunshine.
I thought about the things that make me so grumpy in the morning.
- Getting Hazzy's breakfast ready while he shouts at me to hurry up
- Trying to pack hubby's lunch before he leaves for work during the time Hazzy has his breakfast
- Cold mornings that totally put me off taking a shower
- Packing Hazzy's morning tea before leaving for our morning activity
- Remembering last minute that I have to hang out the laundry before we head out
- Frantically hanging out laundry while Hazzy demands to be let out to play
The night before, I will:
- Prepare an activity for Hazzy to do in the morning when I prepare breakfast
- Get hubby's lunch and Hazzy's morning tea ready
- Take showers in the evening
- Fold laundry and have the lines empty for tomorrow's fresh load
- Turn on uplifting music as I head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast
- Make breakfast and finish packing up hubby's lunch
- Get the laundry out of the washing machine and place in front of the lines
- Enjoy breakfast together with Hazzy
- Wash the dishes
- Get both Hazzy and myself dressed up and ready for the day
- Go out and hang the washing on the line while Hazzy plays on his trike
- Take out some toys for Hazzy to play with while I do my morning Bible reading and prayer with a nice cup of tea
- Pack away Hazzy's toys and head out for our morning activity
Do you have any tips to make your mornings less hectic and more enjoyable?
