The renter's best friend, 3M Command Hooks

As a renter, we are not allowed to make any holes on the walls of our house. This makes for a very boring and limited interior. Coupled with severe lack of storage space, I could only drool over the great space saving shelves and storage systems on the IKEA catalogue. That was until I started experimenting with various 3M Command hooks.

I like wearing scarves. But keeping scarves nicely organised can be a challenge. They are tricky to hang on clothes hangers and end up falling off. Plus, it's a hassle to go through my packed closet to find the right scarf for the occasion. I only had two options, either let my scarves lay on some obscure corner as a big pile (which had previously been the case) or just wear the one scarf everyday. I finally figured out this trick. Coupled with the tie/belt hanger from Howard's Storage, my scarves are nicely organised while decorating the bare wall in our bedroom. What do I do with this when the warm weather kicks in and I don't wear scarves any more? I can use it to hang my necklaces and other large accessories.

I wanted to hang these cute little IKEA frames for ages but couldn't find a way to hang them flat on the wall. Then I found the 3M Command strips that let you stick frames onto the wall without the need to use hooks. I only needed one strip per frame for these.

With babies comes the inevitable problem of clutter. The biggest source of clutter is, of course, toys. They all come in different shapes and sizes which makes it very tricky to stow away.  These baby play gyms proved hardest to deal with. I didn't want to slip them behind furniture to catch all the dust there but didn't want to keep them open all day to take up space as well. The solution was a simple hook on the wall to hang them up.

I also have hooks on the insides of cabinet and pantry doors. These are hidden storage spaces that you often forget about.

Do you have any good ideas to use 3M Command Hooks?
